#8 LMA Manager

The LMA manager series focused primarily on the visual aspect of game play by using a 3D engine but also maintained the detail that was required to satisfy users. It became hugely popular as it gave users the chance to manage their own side which was a hugely attractive prospect at the time this series started. It was certainly not the best football game but it gave an enjoyable experience nonetheless

#7 Volley Challenge 2012
This is certainly the most one-dimensional game on the list but is one that will see the hours pass you by if you are not careful. The idea of the game is simple, to score volleys coming from different angles but it is the ability to be your favorite team and play in shoot-outs against the rest of the league to give a final standing that makes this game so great.

#6 Virtua Striker 2
The simplicity of this game is what made it so entertaining. Not the most commonly played game by any stretch of the imagination but it is certainly up there with the best football arcade games. It was not an in depth game with too many controls and tactical necessities, it relied on its fast pace to make it entertaining

#5 World Cup 98
World Cup 98 was an absolute classic at the time. The introduction of actual team kits was an improvement from the previous EA sports game and there was certainly no better game at the time to lead your country to World Cup glory. This game is synonymous with the soundtrack ‘Tubthumping’ by Chumbawumba

#4 FIFA Street
FIFA Street was a fantastic introduction to the video console games but has gone off the scene in recent years. It did however give the player the chance to perform some outrageous skills and pretend that they weren’t just pressing random buttons. It was a nice break from our Number 1 game but was short lived.

#3 Pro Evolution
As a game it is certainly up there with the best football games but when competing with FIFA it really has no chance. You can try and convince yourself you are Tottenham when you are the North East London but it won’t work. You’re mom probably only playing this because your Mum got confused between this and FIFA for your Christmas present. A good game it has to be said but will not challenge FIFA for the best

#2 Football Manager
This is one for the more avid football fan, the sort of fan that thinks he can do a better job than the manager. This game gives you the opportunity to mold your own squad, to do the impossible and take your local conference side to the Champions League in 6 seasons (I’ve seen it been done). There are different sorts of players of this game stretching from those who will analyze every aspect of a player before inspecting the clubs finances to try and make the purchase to those who will save before a cup final and replay it until they get the win but that’s what makes this game so great

#1 FIFA
There can be no dispute with the winner of the best football game. I defy anyone to find me a football fan that does not enjoy a game of FIFA. Whatever standard you are there is no better game to take control of your teams players and get one over on your mates. FIFA has it all; top quality graphics, up to date squads, celebrations, the list is endless. There is no better game.
