Drogba is a living legend at Chelsea for his exploits in the eight years he spent at the club, having been signed by current manager Jose Mourinho from Marseille in the 2004.

And the two could be reunited once again at Stamford Bridge in the summer, with the Ivorian striker’s current contract with Galatasaray due to expire at the end of the season.

Drogba has a heavy affinity with the Blues from his time with the club, having won the league title three times and scoring the vital penalty that secured Chelsea’s first ever Champions League trophy.

His wife and children still live in Surrey, not far from Chelsea’s Cobham training ground and he is believed to intend moving back to England upon the conclusion of his playing career.

Chelsea are believed to want to help the 35-year-old ease into that transition by bringing him back to the club in a coaching capacity in order to help the Blues’ next generation of strikers improve their games and create a great striking dynasty in West London.

Chelsea will come face-to-face with Drogba this Tuesday as they take on Galatasaray in the last 16 of the Champions League.

#8 LMA Manager

The LMA manager series focused primarily on the visual aspect of game play by using a 3D engine but also maintained the detail that was required to satisfy users. It became hugely popular as it gave users the chance to manage their own side which was a hugely attractive prospect at the time this series started. It was certainly not the best football game but it gave an enjoyable experience nonetheless

#7 Volley Challenge 2012
This is certainly the most one-dimensional game on the list but is one that will see the hours pass you by if you are not careful. The idea of the game is simple, to score volleys coming from different angles but it is the ability to be your favorite team and play in shoot-outs against the rest of the league to give a final standing that makes this game so great.

#6 Virtua Striker 2
The simplicity of this game is what made it so entertaining. Not the most commonly played game by any stretch of the imagination but it is certainly up there with the best football arcade games. It was not an in depth game with too many controls and tactical necessities, it relied on its fast pace to make it entertaining

#5 World Cup 98
World Cup 98 was an absolute classic at the time. The introduction of actual team kits was an improvement from the previous EA sports game and there was certainly no better game at the time to lead your country to World Cup glory. This game is synonymous with the soundtrack ‘Tubthumping’ by Chumbawumba

#4 FIFA Street
FIFA Street was a fantastic introduction to the video console games but has gone off the scene in recent years. It did however give the player the chance to perform some outrageous skills and pretend that they weren’t just pressing random buttons. It was a nice break from our Number 1 game but was short lived.

#3 Pro Evolution
As a game it is certainly up there with the best football games but when competing with FIFA it really has no chance. You can try and convince yourself you are Tottenham when you are the North East London but it won’t work. You’re mom probably only playing this because your Mum got confused between this and FIFA for your Christmas present. A good game it has to be said but will not challenge FIFA for the best

#2 Football Manager
This is one for the more avid football fan, the sort of fan that thinks he can do a better job than the manager. This game gives you the opportunity to mold your own squad, to do the impossible and take your local conference side to the Champions League in 6 seasons (I’ve seen it been done). There are different sorts of players of this game stretching from those who will analyze every aspect of a player before inspecting the clubs finances to try and make the purchase to those who will save before a cup final and replay it until they get the win but that’s what makes this game so great

#1 FIFA
There can be no dispute with the winner of the best football game. I defy anyone to find me a football fan that does not enjoy a game of FIFA. Whatever standard you are there is no better game to take control of your teams players and get one over on your mates. FIFA has it all; top quality graphics, up to date squads, celebrations, the list is endless. There is no better game.

1. Netherlands

The Dutch, as is quickly becoming the norm, were absolutely imperious in their qualifying group, sealing a spot in Rio with two games to spare. The Dutch were just too strong for everyone really.

From the opening match, they looked galaxies away from their competitors. Changing manager and a mini squad-overhaul after the disastrous Euro 2012 campaign turned out to be a tonic for the side as the newfound freshness, hunger, unity and order has translated in brilliant, ruthless and efficient performances on the pitch.

2. Germany

Germany will always be there or thereabouts when it comes to major tournaments.

That is as accurate a statement as 1+1 = 2. Germany has been an almost ever-present at continental and global competition.

They have qualified for every FIFA World Cup finals, with two exceptions, doing
so automatically as hosts or holders five times.

3. Spain

The current holders of both the European and World Cups head into Brazil as the team everyone wants to beat.

Brazil already did it at the Confederations Cup in the recent past and if for nothing else, the manner of that defeat may well have given many other nations a glimmer of hope and a blueprint of how to finally be able to get the better of a La Roja side that had become ultra-dominant for the better part of half a decade.

4. Argentina

Two time champions Argentina qualified somewhat easily for the World Cup, topping the ten-team round-robin pool and booking their place with a game to spare.

Third on the FIFA rankings, the Selleccion have transformed into a force to really be reckoned with. Recent friendly victories against Brazil, Germany, Sweden and Portugal have gone some way into illustrating just how far they have come in the journey back to the top of the footballing pyramid.

10. Danny Welbeck | Manchester United
The England international only scored one Premier League goal in 27 matches last season, but this term he has managed to net eight in 17 games.

9. Cesar Azpilicueta | Chelsea
The fact he is keeping the Premier League’s best ever left-back out of the Chelsea team says everything you need to know about Cesar Azpilicueta’s improvement this season.

8. Samir Nasri | Manchester City
Manuel Pellegrini has got the best out of almost every Manchester City player this season, including France international Samir Nasri.

7. Emmanuel Adebayor | Tottenham
Emmanuel Adebayor deserves immense credit for still training hard and believing in himself after being effectively discarded by Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas.

6. Jordan Henderson | Liverpool
Jordan Henderson was widely regarded as a big-money flop until Brendan Rodgers arrived at Liverpool; now it’s clear why the Reds paid £20m for his services in June 2011.

5. Adam Lallana | Southampton
From promising League One attacking midfielder to Premier League star, Southampton’s Adam Lallana has developed into a fantastic player over the past four or five years.

4. Luis Suarez | Liverpool
The fact many used to say that Luis Suarez was not a natural goalscorer seems ludicrous today.

3. Eden Hazard | Chelsea
Of all the players Jose Mourinho has improved since returning to Chelsea, Eden Hazard is surely top of the pile.

2. Seamus Coleman | Everton
It’s no surprise that Manchester United and Arsenal are both considering making summer bids for Everton right-back Seamus Coleman.

1. Aaron Ramsey | Arsenal
If you’d asked 100 Arsenal supporters which player they wanted to leave the Emirates Stadium at this time last year, the chances are 50 would have answered with Nicklas Bendtner and the other half with the answer: ‘Aaron Ramsey’.

6. Manchester United: Vidic - Rooney

As Manchester United head into a new direction, the man David Moyes could turn to in order to lead the side, may well be Wayne Rooney.

The Red Devils striker certainly leads by example on the pitch and would demand respect from his teammates.

5. Tottenham: Dawson - Vertonghen

At 30-years-old, Dawson will soon be entering the twilight years of his career.

Dawson's eventual departure from the north London outfit will certainly act as a major blow for the White Hart Lane faithful, however they appear to have a ready made successor in Jan Vertonghen.

4. Liverpool: Gerrard - Suarez

Steven Gerrard is still a crucial member of the Liverpool team, but there's no getting away from the fact that he's now 33-years-old.

Life without Gerrard at Liverpool will be strange, but one day he will have to be replaced.

And, as long as Suarez is still at Anfield, he will have to be the next Reds' next skipper.

3. Chelsea: Terry - Cahill

John Terry is another English star that is coming towards the end of his career and Chelsea look as if they have a ready made replacement in Gary Cahill to take over as skipper at the Bridge.

Cahill and Terry have formed a fine relationship this season and the England international could take the armband off his partner in the near future.

2. Manchester City: Kompany - Nastasic

Vincent Kompany is still one of the world's greatest defenders, but the Citizens ace has struggled with injuries in the last few years, so it remains to be seen as to how long he will continue at the top level for.

However, he certainly has two or three years left in him yet and, by that time, Matija Nastasic would have gained enough Premier League experience to replace him as skipper.

1. Arsenal: Vermaelen - Mertesacker

Vermaelen has struggled to get into the Arsenal team in the past year and he could soon be on his way out of the Emirates exit door.

And, despite Mikel Arteta currently the club's vice-captain, the obvious choice to replace him has to be Per Mertesacker.

The club was bought less than three years ago but is “unofficially” on the market again.

City bankers say US owners Fenway Sports Group have become disenchanted since paying £300million for Liverpool in 2010. Despite spending £187million on players they haven’t got near the top of the Premier League.

A City source said: “They went into this to make money but the club hasn’t got into Europe, flopped in the league and spent well over £100million on transfers. The fact Luis Suarez could be sold is no coincidence. Selling a star player is a classic sign of wanting to get out.”

You’ll never hawk alone … John Henry, Liverpool owner

Sources say the club approached oil giant Saudi Aramco to discuss sponsorship months ago. Aramco is thought instead to have proposed a takeover that Fenway, fronted by John W Henry, is considering.

FSG investors are said to be furious at the money lost on transfers under former manager Kenny Dalglish, including Andy Carroll who was bought from Newcastle for £35million and sold to West Ham for £19million.

Suarez has doubled in value but has caused problems. He has been banned for racially abusing one opponent and biting another.

Bankers say two other US billionaires are in the running for ownership, but would not reveal names.

Paris Saint-Germain are preparing to make a £40million bid to sign Manchester United winger Adnan Januzaj this summer, according to the Daily Star.

The 19-year-old has been a revelation during his breakthrough season for the Premier League champions, so much so that the Ligue 1 giants offered £15million to sign him in January.

Red Devils boss David Moyes was quick to reject any advances for the talented teenager, having made it his priority to keep the youngster at Old Trafford.

Januzaj signed a new long-term deal with Manchester United in October, but that won't deter Laurent Blanc from testing the English club's resolve with an offer nearly three times bigger than what was on the table last month.

PSG will attempt to lure the forward to Parc des Princes with a contract of around £100,000-a-week, that will make Januzaj one of the highest paid teenagers in world football.

Manchester United will be hopeful of retaining the Belgian-born starlet's services beyond the summer, but know that their failure to finish in the top four - and qualify for the Champions League next season - could prove detrimental to their chances of keeping Januzaj in England.

PSG star Zlatan Ibrahimovic has given Cristiano Ronaldo the most unique of birthday presents.

The Ballon d'Or winner received the very special present from the Swedish forward on Wednesday, reports The Mirror.

Ronaldo would have been shocked when he unwrapped the gift to find a t-shirt with the slogan ‘Dare To Zlatan’ embroidered into it.

Ibrahimovic then shared the gift with the world, sending the Real Madrid man a photo of the gift on Twitter.

The picture has been retweeted over 27,000 times but the world player of the year was quick to respond with a cheeky comment himself.

Ronaldo said thanks to Ibra, telling him how it will 'look better on me than you'. And it wouldn’t be the first time Ronaldo got one over the Swede.

Last November the pair came head-to-head in November’s World Cup play-off between Sweden and Portugal. Ronaldo inspired his side to the win with a second leg hat-trick.

Since then, both players have gone on to score bags of goals, but it may be the PSG man who receives most of the plaudits for this one.

5. Giuseppi Rossi
Rossi decision to leave United, as well as their decision to let him leave can't really be argued at considering some of the options they have had in recent times. Rossi would clearly have struggled for first team football, just like Javier Hernandez is experiencing at this moment in time.

4. Carlos Tevez
A Champions League winner with the Red Devils, Tevez was a top player under Sir Alex ferguson, however once again often found it difficult to continuously hold down a regular first-team place.

3. Gerard Pique
A World and European champion with Spain, and a Champions League winner with Barcelona, the central defender has excelled since his departure from Old Trafford.

2. Paul Pogba
It has been widely mentioned that United are lacking in the middle of park, with a new central midfielder one of their priorities.

1. Cristiano Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo made his name during a sparkling six season at Old Trafford where he developed into one of the world's greatest players.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will go down as one of the greatest managers ever to grace the beautiful game, despite his recent dip.

However, some of his dealings in the transfer market have been abysmal to say the least.

Francis Jeffers

Jeffers is perhaps Arsene Wenger’s worst ever signing, and was probably Arsenal’s worst ever signing in their illustrious history. The young Englishman was signed for a hefty £8m in 2001 after Thierry Henry urged Wenger to capture a ‘fox in the box’ following an FA Cup defeat to Liverpool.

Mikael Silvestre :
Arsene Wenger invested £300k to purchase the ex-Manchester United defender whose best days were clearly behind him.

Arsenal paid the price for their poor investment with a series of clumsy and comical defensive displays against the likes of Barcelona and Spurs during his two-year stint with the London club.

In 2010, Silvestre was released by the Gunners, and eventually secured a move to German club Werder Bremen.

Marouane Chamakh :
In his first six months at Arsenal, Marouane Chamakh’s time at the Emirates Stadium could be judged as a success. However, it has been downhill for the Moroccan over the past 18 months, during which he has transformed from a feared talisman to a clown.

He fell down the pecking order and become little more than a bit-part player for the Gunners - and when given a chance to showcase his talents, he displayed a lack of confidence and composure to score goals from his team.

Wenger shipped him out on loan to West Ham. It is fair to assume that we might never see him in an Arsenal shirt again.

Richard Wright :
Arsene Wenger splashed out £6m for the goalkeeper and was viewed as the long-term replacement to legend David Seaman. Despite being drafted in to play second fiddle to Seaman, the expectation was the he was the future of Arsenal’s defence.

Unfortunately, Wright failed up to live up to his reputation with some disastrous displays for the Gunners before being sold.

Sebastien Squillaci :
Arsenal’s fans were crying out for an experience defender in the summer of 2011, someone who could improve their poor defence.

Wenger decided that Sebastien Squillaci was the ideal man. Although, Squillaci arrived at Arsenal with some pedigree, he failed to deliver anything close to his best in the Premier League.

Honourable mentions - or dishonourable, if you will:

Jose Antonio Reyes, Amaury Bischoff, Andrey Arshavin, Chu-Young Park, Carlos Vela, Pascal Cygan and Nicklas Bendtner.
